Hello Can this camera only be connected to a 2.5ghz WLAN or also to a 5ghz? I have a Xiaomi Smart Camera C200 and it does not work with our 5ghz WLAN. Now I am looking for one that would run over a 5ghz WLAN.

According to the specifications, the camera only supports the WLAN standards 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11n. These standards only utilise the 2.4 GHz band. The camera can therefore only be operated in a 2.4 GHz WLAN and not in a 5 GHz network.

These are the specifications of the camera (C300)
Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz
Wi-Fi operating frequency: 2412-2472 MHz
Maximum Wi-Fi output power: <20 dBm
the C200 you tested has the same connection (Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz )
I assume, if your system does not have dual frequency capability (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz) the camera will not work.

As long as your router uses a shared Wi-Fi network for both frequencies, it doesn't matter if your camera only uses 2.4 GHz. It remains in the same LAN and can communicate with all other devices.

Wi-Fi standards that use the 5 GHz band are:
- Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) → 5 GHz only
- Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) → 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz
- Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax, extended) → 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz
- Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) → 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz
The 802.11b, g and n standards supported by this camera are limited to the 2.4 GHz band. 802.11n can theoretically also use 5 GHz, but only if it is explicitly mentioned in the specifications, which is not the case here.
