Is it possible to print something in label size with the printer, e.g. from Excel, in the normal way as with other printer drivers? Or can this only be done with a special programme of the printer?

I have never tried that. Basically, these label printers from Brother can be controlled with the in-house P-Touch software :)

For the Brother QL devices, you can install normal printer drivers, see here (for Win10): https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadlist.aspx?c=ch&lang=de&prod=lpql600euk&os=10011
Finally, this also means that labels can be printed from any application, without the P-Touch Editor software. However, I have never tried it out.
