Question about Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter

Hello all I am looking for a wireless solution between beamer and laptop (distance 3m) - but I don't have WLAN available. Is it also possible without WLAN? Or is 2.4GHz or 5GHz necessary in any case? Thanks and LG Jorogos

This wireless adapter is based on Miracast. Miracast is based on WLAN. However, an ad-hoc connection is also possible; i.e. directly from the notebook to the adapter; without WLAN infrastructure.
