Hello all I actually want to buy a baby monitor, but I wonder if it doesn't make more sense to buy this camera (as it's much cheaper). And I want to control it with the app via mobile anyway, so I don't need another device.... My questions: - Will I be notified enough on the mobile when the baby moves/sounds? - Do you see any disadvantages for the baby or should I pay special attention to anything? - Can I also connect it via my mobile hotspot (e.g. when on holiday abroad)? Thank you :-)
We had exactly the same considerations with our first baby and also decided on this smart camera. It works great. Besides the price and good reliability, the small disadvantages are:
1 - We run the transmission live, then you don't use the mobile for anything else during that time. You can also try AI notifications on mobile 1 first and run picture/sound on mobile 2 to compare. But I would play it safe for the first few months.
2 - Different WLAN on holiday = short camera reset (not so bad).
Tip: Don't accidentally turn on the alarm function! Then the camera makes a penetrating alarm noise when the baby moves, flashes wildly and scares the little ones. So test everything first before you start.
This device is easy to use and reliable. Connected to your home's Wi-Fi network, the images and videos are of excellent quality. You can access your device from anywhere in the world. All you need to do is install the tapo application and have Internet access on your laptop or computer. Don't hesitate, you're making the right choice.
For older children, the sensitivity of the motion detector is sufficient; for younger children, an AI plan for noise detection is offered.
Disadvantage: Radiation; baby monitor only radiates when sounds are transmitted.
Hotspot works in principle, but switching from Wlan requires a factory reset. If so, clone your own network with the hotspot.
