Question about Synology Ds218+
Have the 216j, find it a bit slow (access times via apps). Is it worth the upgrade?

An upgrade from 'j' to '+' is definitely worthwhile. If only because of the built-in RAM memory (apart from the processor ;-)).
I find the processing time on the phone when loading images to be quite fast.
Have a device with 2Gb Ram. Uploading pictures is also very fast.
However, I recommend uploading the pictures in advance, as DS-File can only transfer a certain quantity.
If I have a lot of pictures, several GB, I am faster with the mobile phone cable to the PC and then in the network from the PC to NAS.
