Question about Nuki Smart Lock 2.0 CH
Has anyone retrofitted the priority function themselves or does anyone know what is needed for this? Unfortunately, my flat door does not have this function, but I would like to retrofit it myself and am also authorised to do so. Do I simply need a new double cylinder (KABA Star) which supports this function? However, I have to keep the existing lock, i.e. I don't want to use any new/additional keys, as I live in a block of flats. It would be nice if someone could tell me how I can convert this as cheaply as possible and on my own.
I have also retrofitted the priority cylinder. As Swinnall correctly wrote, the key may then simply no longer be used (except in an emergency). I taped the outside of the lock with tape to make sure no one uses the key (except in an emergency -> remove the tape).
I find it best to have a turning knob on the inside, where Nuki can also be 'put over it'. The knob then turns 'synchronously', i.e. both the Nuki and the key can be used.
Beware! I had exactly the same situation. I ordered and installed a new double cylinder with priority function for CHF 250. That's easy and anyone can do it. But what they don't tell you is that you need a cylinder where the outside and inside work in sync. I don't know what that means technically, but it means that when the key turns on one side, the cylinder turns on the other side. Otherwise the dear Nuki loses the overview when you open the door from the outside with the key, because it no longer knows whether the door is locked or not.
My flatmate only handled the key, which doesn't speak for the Nuki's power of persuasion either, making the thing useless for our house.
