Question about Huawei E5770

Has anyone ever tried to adjust the IMEI? (Purely for scientific purposes in a laboratory environment). Then it would be hypothetically possible to fool the provider into thinking it is a mobile phone instead of a hotspot.

The question is also purely hypothetical. I can currently make a hotspot with my mobile phone. But not with a hotspot device, because this is recognised and the speed is throttled by the provider. If I could make the provider believe, hypothetically, that it is also a mobile phone, I could use a hotspot and save my mobile phone a bit. To do this, I would probably have to be able to adjust the IMEI, as always hypothetically, as this identifies the device... (at least I assume so).

As far as I know, it is illegal to change the IMEI of a device, but I could be wrong.
But what exactly do you want to achieve with this? You won't be able to make a phone call anyway, because the necessary receivers are missing. Not to mention the possibility of communication.
