The punching slot is not open on the right and left, approx. 36cm long. You cannot punch A3 lengthwise. From hole to hole it is 28cm (i.e. left and right approx. 4cm remain without punching). The insert for the spirals is even smaller, about 32cm.

As my predecessor says: the slot is open on both sides. But I don't know how you can precisely punch 2 spiral bindings with the fence. I'm sure there is a trick with an auxiliary stop that allows this.
