Electrolux EXP40U339CW - Comfort 600
60 m², 14000 BTU/h
Good day, Last week I received and installed the Comfort600. I noticed 2 things: - The unit is quite loud - The unit cools the room only 2-3 degrees below room temperature. It is a whole new house, very well insulated and I get from about 26 degrees to only about 24. Is my unit defective? Is there anything I can do to test it? How cold should the outgoing air be? LG Philippe
Mine is loud too, but not as loud as others I know. I think air conditioners are just loud. If it cools at all, it probably works properly. But there are still maybe a few things to think about:
1) Is it powerful enough for your "house"? The unit is 14,000 BTU. How much do you need? There are online calculators for that. With too little BTU, the unit can barely move the temperature effectively. I have two of this unit.
2) Is the air pipe tight and as straight as possible? The window and pipe need to be tight, and bends in the pipe can heat up. When I routed mine around the corner, the unit tended to heat part of the flat. Now with a different configuration it is much better.
3) Did you install the drip tube? The unit sucks quite a lot of water out of the air and if it can't get out it might become inefficient.
I hope this will help.
Unfortunately, there is no data or test method from Electrolux for "my appliance is working properly". P-Star summed it up well: if cool air comes out, then it probably works. The cooling capacity of my unit is no better and you can't get the room temperature below 21 degrees. Optimisation of the exhaust air (hose as short and straight as possible, good window sealing set + additional insulation) and location may still bring something, but the room will not reach 17 degrees, as long as you don't drill a hole in the wall directly behind the unit for exhaust air :)
It's just not a professionally installed split air-conditioning solution - and it's clunky, heavy, noisy, has a high power consumption and cooling capacity falls short of expectations. The biggest design flaw of the unit - it is even app connected - is the lack of an externally placeable temperature sensor - the one inside the unit is relatively helpless, as the temperature around the unit drops to the set value quite quickly.
