Good day :)
I am looking for a router for a LAN party with about 20 - 25 people that can handle such amounts of data and keep the network stable. We pull an internet line with 150mbps download and 50 mbps upload from the neighbour into our room and have used an expensive Asus gaming router there until now. As soon as more than 15 people are connected to this router, it is completely overloaded and it is no longer possible to play games together. You can no longer log on to various platforms and the lag spikes are enormous. You can't even think about gaming. A reset to factory settings helps for a few minutes now and then.
Can the NETGEAR XR700 Nighthawk Pro Gaming do this or is there another product that can be recommended for this use?

I don't think anyone will be able to answer your question. 50MBit is not that much. I can well imagine that this could be a problem. It also depends on the game.
If you use a voice server, I recommend a local installation to reduce the load on the Internet.
In most cases, it is due to the CPU in the routers. This has 2 to 4 cores and 1.2GHz to 1.8GHz. This is not much.
If you want to make sure it runs properly, I would recommend a device with a good CPU, 1x RJ45 1Gbit and an SSD. You can then install routerOS on it, deactivate the firewall and all encryption and it will certainly run properly. Old computers are also well suited for this. Please not any old laptops. They usually don't have more power than the router :P
In one of our models (firewall/router) we use the i5 8365U with 4 cores / 8 threads at max. 4.10GHz with 8GB RAM. Such a setup is definitely sufficient for your applications.
You can also simply build your own with current Ryzen at low cost.
Here is a list of parts for around 400 CHF.

If you swap the Ryzen 5 3500X for the Ryzen 5 3400G, you lose about 15% performance, but save about 50 CHF.
