Does this product also work, for example, in a cellar without WiFi or a permanent connection to a smartphone? I.e. can the sensor also be connected to a smartphone only periodically to collect log data?

Yes, the sensor works via Bluetooth. The sensor itself only stores a few days of data. Once connected to the smartphone, you can simply walk near it, start the app and it connects itself. A great product!

Yes, basically, the sensor has 10 days of internal storage and the data can be read out via the Ruuvi Station app. This just requires a little more battery from the sensor because much more is sent than usual.
Unfortunately, the app only stores up to 10 days back.
Otherwise, you can only open the app in the basement if necessary and view the sensor value that is sent every few seconds. Or for the lazy: Activate background logging in the app, but then BT is permanently active and so is the app. And if you forget to look at the data in the app, it will be gone after 10 days...

I have a RuuviTag in our cellar and it's actually not very exciting. The temperature goes up a few degrees in summer and down a few in winter. It doesn't really justify the effort involved in collecting a lot of data.
