Does the wifi stick work with Ubuntu 18 (kernel 4.18)?
Also with USB 3.0?
I bought a LogiLink Nano WLAN stick and unfortunately it is not very stable with Ubuntu. It often happens that Ubuntu freezes when connecting to my router (2.4 Gz) so that I have to restart the computer with the power button.
Are such problems also to be expected with the AVM stick?

The stick works perfectly with me (Ubuntu 19.10). I have never had any problems with AVM products under Linux. This is a brand that has never caused me any problems: no installation is necessary, the products are automatically recognised by Linux. A very recommendable brand for Linux users.
I have a Fritzbox 5490. You would think with "Stick&Go" everything should work: The specifications are misleading; it reaches 300Mbit, yes. With luck, briefly 400, maybe 450 in upload. Once so far, with a newer Dell Latitude, when standing DIRECTLY NEXT TO THE ROUTER. But no 866! Despite 1300Mbit WLAN router on 5Ghz and channels etc set correctly. Neither non-radar channel 48, nor 128. Massive driver problems, had two sticks, two extensions. Tried everything possible to get more out. Last driver on vendor website: 2018. AND MASSIVE DRIVER PROBLEMS! USB 3.0 is INACTIVE by default for many users due to driver errors. This is also the case with ME. Work in IT myself. min. 4h upwards tinkering around. I am very satisfied with the router. This stick: disaster. USB 3.0 must be forced manually in the registry because Fritz does not "open" any parameters in the standard properties and it cannot get away from USB 2.0 mode despite transfer optimisation setting in the Fritz driver. Simply lousy. It also seems to have problems when using extensions (not very long): Probably detection/firmware/USB controller problem. (Depending on the mainboard, a matter of luck) On/Off... On/Off in the Dev. Manager. Cannot initialise cleanly. 4 of 6 ports on this desktop should definitely be USB 3.0, 3.1 according to DevMgmt. And now? Should I send an invoice? Return chf 2x40.- and order a new Monster antenna? Even more hassle and expense. If it already has such problems on Win10 Pro, I would leave it alone on Linux even more than I already do. Even if Digitec probably can't do much about it, in this case Fritz is simply a pretty S****** product. Unattractive effort, technically misleading, flawed and all in all a very frustrating, unattractive user experience. Maybe Digitec can get Fritz to finally deliver a fixed driver for this through supplier/manufacturer contact. But I don't hold out much hope. Fritz will probably have its technical or economic reasons for not investing in this part. We all know how that usually goes. Or just... not... works. Maybe that's complaining at a "high level". But when manufacturers write 866 on it. it should be as close as possible, at least approximately. I don't buy the stuff, including the basic requirements, the rest of the gear and the Gbit connection, for fun. Or?

And here is the solution for the USB 2.0 hardship. Make sure you get the right registry entry/device if you have several AC 860 entries, e.g. due to several, alternately connected, identical sticks (after the first search, e.g. search the other numbered folders for AC860 Description or continue with F3).
