Does the thing also work without WiFi and without an app, i.e. by pressing a button on the device itself? Our mother is older and has no WiFi and no mobile phone.

I would recommend a simpler model such as iRobot Roomba 681 This makes the whole thing easier, as it is easier to use and all the app features are not used anyway. + cheaper :)
