The Philips Hue Outdoor motion detector only works fully when it is connected to the Philips Hue Bridge. The bridge is necessary to enable automatic control and the various settings via the Philips Hue app. Without the bridge, the sensor cannot perform the full functions such as automating the lighting and control via the smartphone or tablet.
