The baby unit's camera connects to the parent unit via radio (Secure Connect System, similar to DECT) with a range of up to 400 metres outdoors. Transmission to the app takes place via WLAN or mobile data, so that you can theoretically see images and sound from anywhere in the world (e.g. 1 km away) as long as there is an Internet connection. The 400 metres only applies to the direct wireless connection to the parent unit, not to the app.
