Yes, it's supposed to work like that, but you have to use their "Omada" technology and to do that you either need a PC dedicated to the task or, more simply, an OC200 or OC300 box, depending on the number of wi-fi clients. In my case it worked fine for 3 days but unfortunately since then it's been a nightmare, the speeds are ridiculous and the ping is unbelievable. Their technical service can't find a solution, so I'm going to send the EAP back for repair, hoping that's the problem... I had tried with an EPA 225-Outdoor, but it was very unstable too (until the aerial came off!). You should also know that there are quite a few bugs in their Omada software (which doesn't often work with Safari on macOS) and that some operations, such as resetting, are very slow, taking up to 15 minutes... In short, their Omada concept is good, but their implementation seems to me to be very flawed... And generally speaking, TP-Link hardware doesn't seem to be of very good quality, I've also had quite a few problems with their C310 camera.
