Does anyone have experience with the AC810 as a hotspot in the car while driving. Should serve as an internet ap for navigation for an iPad. How well does the battery charge on USB in the car and how is the reception while driving? Is an external antenna necessary?

I've been using it in the car for years to connect to the internet. Fixed in the boot without an external antenna. Certainly sufficient speed for navigation, but of course such a receiver cannot overcome the limits of physics.
I have configured it so that it switches on when the ignition is switched on and switches off automatically after a short delay without charging current. I have installed a 2.1 A USB charging port, which charges the battery without any problems.
Works most of the time without any manual intervention. Every now and then an update or manual restart is necessary, but maybe 3-4 times a year.

Reception is as good as with a mobile phone. We don't have an external antenna. Surfing the internet and even streaming while driving is possible, provided the reception from the network operator's side (4G) is sufficient. But navigation should not really be a problem.
