Do you need the RING base station to use these cameras (or the other RING cameras) or can you combine the cameras with the base station? What are the advantages and disadvantages of using these cameras or not?

There is no physical base station for Ring products. All devices run via Ring's Internet Cloud (annual subscription). I have 1 doorbell, 2 outdoor cams with solar panels, 1 indoor cam and 1 chim (bell) in use. It works fine and can also be accessed on the move via iPhone etc.
