Question about TP-Link Deco M4 AC1200 Dualband WLAN Mesh 3-pack

Do the M4s require an upstream router or can I also use them stand-alone in offline mode, i.e. are they DHCP-capable? I would like to use the mesh network for a security camera system and connect one camera to each M4 via a LAN connection.
