Do I need the black device? I bought a teufel occasion system with the 2 transmitters rear but it does not work properly.

The rear station (black box) is connected to the Teufel receiver via Cinch and serves as a radio transmitter for the audio signals. This transmitter is simply connected to the receiver PreOut connection via cinch. The compact receivers are to be connected to sockets.
