Question about Microsoft Office 2016 Home and Student
Delivery on a CD/DVD?? I don't have an external drive on my MacBook Pro to play these media.

That is not a problem. You can also download the software and activate it with the licence key provided. The link to the download is printed on the box.
By the way, it is a PKC (Product Key Card). So it is not a CD/DVD, but "only" the licence key and the address to download Office 2016.
