Zyxel Multy X Mesh System - set of 2
Can the second node be configured or operated with the same properties (e.g. same network name) instead of via WiFi? Reason: Wifi connection from the upper floor to the ground floor is very poor and usually not available.
Yes, that is possible. I have tested a connection between 2 Multys via Ethernet. This means that the 2nd Multy (WAN) is connected to the 1st Multy (LAN) and receives all the configuration data from the 1st Multy via the cable connection. This gives you the advantage that the 2nd Multy does not have to be configured separately. The distance was so long that the two Multy's could no longer see each other via wireless.
The app allows different locations but not two primary stations in the same network.
However, if there is a cable connection to the ground floor, a conventional router can of course be operated on it.
If you do not want to forego the mesh advantages, you might consider placing a third Multy in a strategic location, e.g. a staircase. The app provides support for optimal placement
Addendum to my question: instead of using Wifi with an Ethernet connection
