Can the device also be operated without / with the carbon filter removed? The background to the question is mosquito plugs, the active ingredient of which would naturally be cleaned away by the filter.

I'm not sure. The device cleans the air. If you don't use the filter, the mechanics will still work, i.e. sucking in loft. But I'm not sure if there is a cheaper version for this?
