Can I operate two Studio Displays on the M2Pro? If so, do I connect both via Thunderbold or is there something to consider?
Googled the question, answer from Apple: MacBook Pro models with M2 Pro or M3 Pro chip introduced from 2023 onwards support up to two external displays simultaneously, depending on the resolution (up to 8K) and refresh rate (up to 240 Hz) of the respective external display, e.g. two displays with up to 6K at 60 Hz via Thunderbolt.
Ditto Studio Display: 27" 5K Retina Display, one Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) upstream port for a host (96 W for host charging), three USB-C downstream ports (up to 10 Gbit/s) for connecting peripherals, storage and networks.
So it works, but if the simple Google question and answers sound too complicated, I would think twice about getting two super-expensive high-performance monitors and such a powerful Mac.
I am a "lazy dog" and asked di question to the AI; -> this answer came:
Yes, you can usually run two Studio Displays on a MacBook Pro with M2 Pro chip.
However, the exact number and resolution of supported displays may depend on various factors, such as:
* macOS version: make sure you are using the latest macOS version to ensure optimal support for external displays.
* Display settings: Adjust the Studio Displays settings to get the best performance.
* Other connected devices: Other connected devices may affect the available bandwidth.
Important notes:
* Resolution and refresh rate: The maximum resolution and refresh rate you can achieve for two Studio Displays depends on the specific models and configurations.
* Thunderbolt ports: Use the Thunderbolt ports on your MacBook Pro to connect the Studio Displays.
* Apple Support: For further questions or problems, consult the official Apple support website or contact Apple Support.
