Can I also use the 7490 A/CH in France on a DSL network? What is specifically the other CH version?

Helpful answer

you are limited with the CH version in terms of updates, if there is already a new update available on the German AVM site or a lab version you cannot install it, you have to wait until it is released for the CH box.

The CH version is actually not "special", but the German version, because Annex B frequencies are also used there for ADSL connections via analogue lines. Therefore, the "CH" version is in principle also suitable for other countries (with the exception of Germany). The problem is not so much the hardware, but getting the right settings and/or access data from the provider, and finding the necessary settings in the FritzBox interface. In London, I once installed a FritzBox for a DSL line with a fixed IP address, and was only able to make the correct settings thanks to the patient support of the small provider.

To be sure, I would ask the provider in France what the requirements are for the access device and make sure that appropriate settings (PPPoE/LLC/VC/Mux) and, if necessary, access data are provided and can be set up in the FritzBox. For example, for non-degrouped DSL connections in France, the PPPoE/VC-Mux setting is required, which cannot be selected in the FritzBox interface - the modem then synchronises, but the FritzBox never receives an IP address.

In an emergency, you can also operate the FritzBox via the Ethernet connection to a modem/router supplied by your provider, for example.

Unfortunately, I don't know, because I use the box in Switzerland. Behind a Quickline Internet box.
