Anyone looking for a solution to replace an existing cable modem with this product: Hands off! You can NOT connect the M2 to a switch via Ethernet. That may work with the M1 - unfortunately not here. Too bad!

Not true. Google WiFi runs out-of-the-box with Nighthawk M2 as modem, both with Nighthawk's own WLAN on and off.

I'm not sure if the statement is entirely correct.

In any case, according to the manual, IP passthrough is limited to the connection via USB cable. So it probably cannot be used as a transparent backup WAN via Ethernet.
