This kit is the ideal introduction for steam enthusiasts who are enthusiastic about steam technology. The assembled engine has the same technical data as the steam engine D 10 and has enough power to set some drive models from the Wilesco programme in motion. The D21 steam engine is a power engine with a double-acting, fixed brass cylinder. The technical specifications correspond to those of the D 20, but here the special color scheme should be emphasized, which gives this machine a particularly noble finish: all metal parts are painted in the colors black and red. The flywheel has also been painted red. This special machine is rounded off by highly polished precious brass parts. A technical feature is the built-in feedwater pump, which is found within the Wilesco range exclusively in the D21 steam engine.
This water pump allows the boiler to be refilled with water while the steam engine is running. The condensate is discharged into a condensate water tray below the chimney, thus causing the chimney to steam. The steam outlet can be manually controlled on the D21 by means of a steam shut-off valve. The prime mover is powered by Witabs dry fuel; one charge of Witabs is enough for about 10-15 minutes of steam fun. From the first firing of the steam engine it takes about 5 minutes until sufficient steam pressure has built up and the engine can be started. The D21 then also has enough power to drive several drive models. In this way, the conversion of heat energy into kinetic energy can be followed very vividly. It is also particularly fun to have the D21 generate electricity and light by connecting the separately available parts Dynamo M66 or Dynamo with Lantern M66/2.

Together with the popular entry-level model D10, you get the dynamo with a lantern. The lantern's LED glows dully while the steam engine is in operation. Further lanterns can still be added. As a set, this Electric-light-Edition is a low-priced complete set with high play effect and learning value. The steam engine can be extended with a transmission (e.g. M55) and other WILESCO drive models.

The Wilesco D6 steam engine has a highly polished and nickel-plated brass boiler and an oscillating cylinder. The water level indicator is designed as a sight glass so that the water level can be checked at any time during operation. The boiler capacity is 135 cm³ with a boiler size of 100 x 45 mm. The flywheel of this machine with its diameter of 70 mm ensures smooth running. The screwed-on dome steam whistle can be activated at any time during operation using a special lever. Its sweet sound is somewhat reminiscent of Emma, the locomotive from "Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver". When fitting the lever for the steam whistle on your D6, please ensure that the lever made of black, heat-resistant plastic points outwards so that you can operate the lever during operation without touching the boiler.

Model steam engine with upright boiler
The D3 is the smallest dry fuel steam engine in the Wilesco range and still relatively new to our repertoire.
The special feature is its upright mounted boiler made of highly polished brass and the oscillating cylinder. Due to the upright boiler, our model D3 has a base dimension of just 16 x 12.5 cm with a boiler capacity of 50 cm³. This model can move one of our smooth-running drive models.
The red base plate and the black boiler house are made of printed sheet steel. The noble appearance of this model alone is a real feast for the eyes!
The two sight glasses show the water level. Where the glass of the water level indicators is fogged up, there is no water. The water level can therefore be easily read on the clear part of the glass. When the water tank is full, the D3 needs short breaks in operation to build up sufficient steam power again. When the water level is half full, there is nothing to prevent continuous operation with the characteristic noise.
Please oil your D3 particularly well in the beginning, during the first runs of the steam engine the speed may still be a little lower. Once the piston has been run in, the machine really gets going!

10. Wilesco Steam engine D2
Many will not pass by this little beauty. Heated with a special tea light made of beeswax, the filigree oscillating cylinder purrs up and down, briskly driving the glittering flywheel. It is a joy to watch this mechanical masterpiece. The boiler's capacity is enough for more than 30 minutes of running time.
