Cat6 cables are designed for operating frequencies up to 250 MHz. They are used for signal transmission with high data rates (1 Gbps). Due to the high signal frequencies, careful handling is required during installation and assembly, especially at the connection points of the wires. The individual wire pairs in Cat6 are twisted with varying tightness, which further reduces susceptibility to interference compared to Cat5e. Application areas for Cat-6 cables include voice and data transmission as well as multimedia and ATM networks. Even more powerful are cables according to Cat6e (500 MHz) and Cat6a (625 MHz).

A significant advantage of slim patch cables is their use in cabling racks and 48-port switches. The extremely thin design and great flexibility help avoid cable clutter, maintaining organization.
