The LWO-SFPP-SR SFP+ transceiver from Innoptical is designed for use in 10-Gigabit Ethernet connections up to 300 meters over multimode fiber optic. The module consists of an 850 nm VCSEL laser, PIN, and preamplifier in a highly integrated optical assembly. Digital diagnostic functions are available via a serial 2-wire interface, as specified in SFF-8472.

LWO-SFPP-SR transceivers offer a unique enhanced digital diagnostic monitoring interface that allows real-time access to device operating parameters such as transceiver temperature, laser bias voltage, transmitted optical power, received optical power, and transceiver supply voltage. Additionally, it defines a sophisticated system of alarm and warning messages that alerts the end user when certain operating parameters fall outside the factory-defined normal range.

The SFP+ MSA defines a 256-byte memory map in the EEPROM, accessible via a serial 2-wire interface at the 8-bit address 1010000X (A0h). The digital diagnostic monitoring interface uses the 8-bit address 1010001X (A2h), ensuring that the originally defined serial ID memory mapping remains unchanged.
