Wilesco D3 Steam engine

Model steam engine with upright boiler The D3 is the smallest dry-fuelled steam engine in the Wilesco range and is still relatively new in the repertoire. What makes it special is its upright mounted boiler made of highly polished brass and the oscillating cylinder. Thanks to the upright boiler, the D3 model has a base size of just 16 x 12.5 cm with a boiler capacity of 50 cm³. This model can move one of the smooth-running drive models. The red base plate and the black boiler house are made of printed sheet steel. The elegant appearance of this model alone is a real feast for the eyes! The two sight glasses show the water level. There is no water where the glass of the water level indicators is steamed up. The water level can therefore be easily read from the clear part of the glass. When the water tank is full, the D3 requires short breaks in operation to build up sufficient vapour power again. Once the water level is half full, continuous operation with the characteristic noise is no longer an obstacle. Please oil your D3 particularly well at the beginning; during the first few runs of the steam engine, the speed may still be slightly lower. Once the piston has been run in, the machine really gets going!
