The Compact Controller 100 with a real-time Linux operating system offers users complete freedom: The compact controller can be freely programmed with CODESYS V3, but it can also be used for engineering independent of IEC 61131, for example with Node-RED, Python, or C++. Additionally, Docker can be easily installed on the device as a virtualization environment. This transforms the Compact Controller 100 into a fully-fledged IIoT device with gateway functionality. WAGO optimally combines the requirements from two worlds into one device, consistently following its competency claim "Automation meets IT." Another advantage of the Compact Controller 100: Its design allows it to be mounted as a rail-mounted device (REG) in small installation distribution boards, in accordance with DIN 43880. The I/O unit is housed together with the controller in a compact enclosure, eliminating the need for additional space for other control components. The wiring level is removable, providing advantages during installation and commissioning.
