Cabelcon is launching two new IEC connectors for easy installation without compression tools. These connectors are equipped with the same internal components as compression connectors to ensure excellent shielding values - including transfer impedance - in accordance with Class A standards.
It is well known that many IEC connectors intended for customer assembly are of poor quality. While they are easy to install, their shielding performance is far from suitable for use in modern HFC networks. This is becoming increasingly important with the operation of more and more wireless and cable network services and the rapid increase in wireless terminals operating in the same frequency bands. An example is the new LTE network, which operates in the 800 MHz band. LTE will include the former TV channels 68 and 69, and poorly shielded cables and connectors can therefore cause significant issues for network services. The new Cabelcon Self-Install connectors are not only safe to use, but they can also be easily installed by anyone using common household tools.
The cable tolerances for this connector are generous. Currently, the new IEC connectors are only available in size 5.1, but they also fit most 4.9 cables.
