The model is a replica of the P-51D K Mustang Pacific. The P-51D Mustang featured advanced functions such as a laminar-flow wing and an efficient cooling design. The P-51D was typically equipped with a Hamilton Standard propeller, but a shortage of propellers led to the installation of Aeroproducts propellers on some P-51Ds built at the North American plant in Dallas. These were designated as P-51K. Most P-51K aircraft served in battles in the Pacific, although some were also sent to Europe.
