Tamiya Mercedes Benz 300SL

The Mercedes Benz 300 SL is a classic sports car that complements the Tamiya sports car series in 1:24 scale. The original vehicle was initially produced as a prototype for the in-house racing team to participate in national races and championships. In 1954, a production model debuted at the International Automobile Exhibition in New York.

Despite its "road car status," the 300 SL was a sporty and elegant vehicle that became very popular in the United States. It features a 3-liter inline 6-cylinder engine—hence the "300" in its name—a very lightweight body—SL stands for "Sport Leicht" or "Light Sport"—and the distinctive gullwing doors. A total of 1,400 units were produced by the end of production in May 1957.
