Tamiya M51 Sherman

During the 1960s, the Israeli Artillery Corps upgraded their M4A1 Sherman tank with the powerful French 105 mm CN-105-F1 tank gun, redesignating it as the M51S. The longer gun reduced the recoil effect, and a counterweight was added to the end of the turret. The 460 hp diesel engine, combined with the Horizontal Volute Spring Suspension (HVSS) and wider T80 tracks, provided the M51 with improved mobility. During the Six-Day War in 1967, the M51 was deployed against the newer T54/55 tanks as well as the JS-3 tanks of the Egyptian, Iraqi, and Syrian armies. The M51's 105 mm gun was capable of engaging these opponents thanks to the use of HEAT ammunition. After the war, the M51 continued to be used and was only phased out in the early 1980s.
