The model is a replica of the German motorcycle R-12. BMW began manufacturing motorcycles in the 1920s, and the German military quickly recognized their value for communication and reconnaissance due to their high speed and excellent maneuverability. By the time of the invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941, BMW had delivered around 36,000 R-12 motorcycles to the German military. Equipped with a 2-cylinder 745 cm³ engine, the R-12 could reach speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour and had a range of over 250 kilometers. Many were fitted with a sidecar, allowing the motorcycle to carry up to three passengers. The sidecar could also serve as a mount for a 7.92 mm machine gun, creating a mobile infantry support weapon. The R-12 motorcycle proved to be a reliable vehicle that was popular with the German Wehrmacht. They would serve on every front of the war, from the frozen Russian steppes to the blazing Sahara desert.
