The model is a replica of the Pak-40. The development of the Pak 40 weapon began in 1938, but progress was slow as the weapon did not fit into the Blitzkrieg concept. It was eventually adopted for military service in late 1941, when both the failure of the Blitzkrieg and the inability of smaller German weapons to damage the Soviet T-34 and KV tanks became evident. The Pak 40 gun had greater firepower than its Soviet counterpart, the ZiS-3 gun, but was far less mobile and more expensive to produce.
