Tamiya 1:48 WWII Douglas A-1J Skyrider USAF

The stand model is a replica of the Douglas A-1J Skyraider, which was in service for nearly 30 years. The development of the combat aircraft began in June 1944. The Skyraider's first combat mission occurred with the outbreak of the Korean War, as it could not be completed in time for World War II. After several improvements to this aircraft, the A-1J Skyraider was finally created. As US air operations in Vietnam became more aggressive in 1965, literally hundreds of Skyraiders, including the A-1J, were deployed for the 14th and 56th Special Operations Wings (SOW).
