The model is a replica of the US M26 recovery vehicle. One of the key factors that enabled the Allies to continue advancing despite the power disparities was the rapid recovery and repair of battle-damaged tanks. This is where the M26 recovery vehicles and their brave crews came into play. The M26 was first deployed in 1943 on the Italian front and was later extensively used for the Allies' advance inland following the Normandy invasion. In all weather conditions, in the middle of the night, or under enemy fire, the recovery teams continuously fulfilled their duty to recover and repair damaged tanks.
