Product details
The Toyota Celica LB Turbo is a Group 5 vehicle developed for the German Racing Championship (DRM) in 1977. Based on the commercially available Celica Liftback 2000GT, it features aerodynamic components such as protruding elements over the fenders and a large rear wing, with most body parts made from lightweight FRP. The vehicle weighs 860 kg. This body was modified to such an extent that it no longer retained its original shape and is equipped with a Toyota inline 4-cylinder turbo engine that was tuned by Schnitzer, a company known for tuning BMWs and other vehicles. The engine displacement was increased to 2090 cc, 4 valves were added, and a mechanical fuel injection system along with a KKK turbocharger were integrated to produce a staggering 560 hp. The car made its debut in 1977 at the 8th DRM GP in Hockenheim and achieved its first victory at the race in Zolder, Belgium, in October of the same year, defeating the consistently victorious Porsche 935. As a silhouette vehicle, the Celica attracted a lot of attention, born in Japan and raised in Germany.
