The model is a replica of the Sd.Kfz. 222 armored vehicle. The German military produced nearly 1,000 of the lightly armored reconnaissance vehicles Sd. Kfz. 222. With a top speed of 80 km/h on roads and 40 km/h off-road, it was a valuable asset for armored units that required a reliable reconnaissance vehicle. In countries with good roads like Western Europe, it demonstrated excellent performance, but struggled on the Eastern Front and in North Africa due to its poor off-road capabilities. Based on a typical heavy utility vehicle, the Sd. Kfz. 222 was equipped with 5 to 8 mm armor plating and a 20 mm KwK 30 L/55 autocannon mounted on the turret, as well as a 7.92 mm machine gun. Although it would eventually be replaced in the reconnaissance role by more robust half-tracks, it impressed the Soviets enough to inspire their own armored BA-64 vehicle.
