Storage capacity expansion: When the storage capacity of the Synology 1U RackStation reaches its limits, the Synology Expansion Unit RX418 offers a simple solution for capacity expansion by adding 4 3.5"/2.5" SATA hard drives to the system. The Synology RX418 can also be used as a dedicated local backup location for the Synology 1U RackStation for comprehensive data protection.

Reliable plug-and-play design: The Synology RX418 is ready to use immediately after being connected to the appropriate Synology RackStation. Hard drives in the connected Synology RX418 operate as if they were installed internally in the connected Synology NAS and can be managed directly through the Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) without the need for additional software installation.

Environmentally friendly and easy to manage: The award-winning Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) provides an intuitive user interface for easy system management. The hard drive's sleep mode can be configured in the DSM, allowing it to be automatically activated when the system is inactive for a specified period. This saves energy and extends the lifespan of the hard drives.
