BBR Battery Remote Control for Battery Charger
The following functions can be adjusted and current values displayed:
- Current voltage and current of the battery output
- Adjustment to an individual charging profile
- Current limit set to 100%, 85%, and 65%
- Turning on and off the maintenance charge for lithium batteries
- Equalization charge and desulfation settings can be adjusted and activated.
Note: The remote control works optimally with devices purchased after June 2022. Older devices require a firmware update, which necessitates sending the device back to SterlingPower England.
Why should you adjust the current limit? The default current setting for the BB series is 100% - this means that the power is set to full capacity by default. If you want to reduce the power of the BB, you can set it to 85% or 65%.
Examples of why you might want to reduce the power:
1) If you have solar panels and the weather is good, reducing the power of the alternator can save fuel.
2) The alternator performs better when it operates at a slightly lower current than expected.
3) Your battery supplier may recommend charging the battery with a slightly lower current. If one of your lithium batteries in your leisure battery bank fails, you may exceed the C-rated capacity of the remaining batteries.
4) Future-proofing. If you have installed a high-performance battery, you should anticipate that one day you will add a larger alternator and/or more batteries to your system. You can reduce the power for the immediate installation and increase the device's output at a later time.
