Der Sony STR-DN1040 kann im Test nicht überzeugen. Der Stereoklang ist noch gut und auch die Ausstattung recht vielseitig, darüber hinaus leistet sich der Netzwerkreceiver jedoch ein paar Schwächen zu viel. Besonders kritisch muss hier der hohe Stromverbrauch angemerkt werden, zumal auch die Surround-Leistung und die Einmessautoamtik nicht besonders gut sind.
Auch wenn der Sony kein Spitzenplatz ergattern konnte, ist er ein sehr solider Receiver mit einem ausgewogenem und sauberen Klang. Dabei ist das Gerät sehr einfach zu bedienen und auch an der tadellosen Verarbeitung gibt es nichts zu beanstanden. Allerdings ist die Ausstattung nicht so üppig wie bei der Konkurrenz.
Der Sony ist ein Receiver dessen Klang nicht nur fein und detailliert ist, sondern dabei auch mit vollem Bass kommt und somit richtig Power hat. Dabei reicht der Bass auch sehr weit nach unten und die Bedienung ist ebenfalls gelungen. Zudem ist er mit WLAN und der AirPlay Funktion für Apple Geräte auch für iPhone und Co kompatibel.
