Schabus Water detector SHT 5001

The SHT 5001 is a water detector designed for permanent installation in a small distribution board or fuse box. It features two alarm lines, each connected to its own alarm relay, and each has two inputs for passive water sensors or mini float switches. In the event of an alarm, the red sensor LED lights up (input 1) or flashes (input 2), an internal piezo buzzer sounds (permanently deactivatable), the assigned relay activates, and an alarm output (12 V/max. 30 mA) for connecting an external piezo driver or LED is triggered. An alarm memory can be set individually for each alarm line using a wire bridge. The alarm can be acknowledged internally by pressing the RESET button or externally by closing a potential-free contact. The TEST button is used to check the alarm settings, simulating "water" on both alarm lines. The connected sensors and mini float switches are not tested during this process. The SHT 5001 is powered by mains voltage from the public electricity grid and/or 12/24 V DC from external batteries or accumulators.

Water sensor or mini float switch? This question is quite simple to answer: If it is at all possible to use a mini float switch for the intended purpose, you should do so. This is because you are dealing with a water level, a gauge, or a lift. While sensors will work for a time, they are completely unsuitable for constantly damp environments due to their exposed contacts. Keep in mind that water sensors are wear parts. The more frequently and longer they are exposed to water, the faster they age and tend to cause increased false alarms at best.
