Product details

The Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing (GB-2, UC-43, Traveller Mk. I) is a single-engine light aircraft that was developed in the early 1930s by the Beech Aircraft Corporation for private pilots. This biplane features an unconventional wing arrangement, with the upper wing positioned behind the lower wing, which gives rise to its name, Staggerwing. Even before World War II, it was widely used as both a transport and a sport aircraft, participating in numerous competitions and setting flight records. With the outbreak of the war, the military ordered several hundred of these planes due to their suitability as liaison aircraft. The type was used by both the Army Air Forces and the Navy, and about a hundred Staggerwings were sent to the United Kingdom under the Lend-Lease agreement. Additionally, the aircraft was utilized in Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, China, Finland, Spain, and New Zealand. In total, the company produced 785 machines of various variants from 1932 to 1949, some of which are still flying today.
