Why are there two different hole variants in coil binding with a 4:1 pitch? Essentially, the same coils are used for both variants. The difference is purely aesthetic. With 44 holes, the distance from the top and bottom edge to the first hole is simply a bit smaller. This gives a visually "fuller" appearance, which some customers prefer. However, it is ultimately not a significant difference.
