The new Star Wars plastic model kits for gluing and painting now offer model fans aged 10 and up even more crafting fun. The modified T-47 Airspeeder, manufactured by Incom Corporation, reaches speeds of over 1100 kilometers per hour using afterburners, but it is not spaceworthy. As one of the most common types of spacecraft in the Star Wars galaxy, the T-47 can be found on nearly every industrialized world. The T-47, modified by the Rebels, is referred to as the Snowspeeder and is used in the battle on the ice planet Hoth to hold off the advancing AT-ATs. The modifications included technical changes to prevent the propulsion systems from freezing instantly. Thanks to their high speeds, Snowspeeders are difficult to hit. The durable cables, originally designed for transporting heavy loads and effectively used against the AT-ATs, are fired using harpoons.
