The massive long-range aircraft Boeing 747 had its maiden flight on February 9, 1969. The jumbo jet was equipped with Pratt & Whitney engines that produced a thrust of 19,731 kg, had a takeoff weight of over 300,000 kg, and could transport 385 passengers over a distance of 9,136 km. The 747 was designed by Boeing as a series, with the 747-100 followed by additional variants with increased capacities.
