TP-Link Archer AX55
With the AX50 there were various reports that the router would be too hot. This is definitely no longer the case with the AX55, which has a new housing and a larger heatsink. The router is stored in a wooden chest of drawers. This is closed and except for the gap in the drawer there is no air circulation. I have monitored the whole thing with a temperature sensor for several days now and it only gets about 2° warmer in the dresser than the room temperature. Even when you touch it, you don't notice anything that the unit is running hot.
I find the web interface very easy to use, but still offers enough features for my needs in Advanced mode. An OpenVPN server and a free Dynamic DNS service from TP-Link are on board. The device also supports third-party services such as No-IP.
The app always notifies when a new device is detected on the network (cable or WiFi).
The Wi-Fi coverage is sufficient for an average 4.5 room apartment and the performance is good enough to stream Xbox games to another device.
I upgraded from a TP-Link Archer C2300 to the AX55 because of the WiFi 6, OFDMA and Beamforming technology as well as OneMesh support in case I want to expand my network in the future. I am very happy with the device, as I was with its predecessor.

I bought the device because it was a good parental control to have. It turns out that you spend 50 CHF on a "HomeShield Pro" for it. Annually as almost as much as for the device.
